Department of Sirappu Maruthuvam
Unique ways of treating diseases in siddha system come under Sirappu Maruthuvam. External therapies are given focus like Varmam, Massage, Kalikam, Nasiyam etc..Traditional bone setting methods are applied to treat fractures.
Fume therapy & thalam application is used to treat psychiatric disorders. While students are given practical training in all the above therapies they are also taught theoretical aspects of skin diseases, psychiatric disorders both siddha and modern aspects.Clinical Examination of Nervous System is thoroughly taught during clinical postings. Students are taken on educational visits to Traditional Siddha Private hospitals for motivation and exposure to various kinds of traditional treatments available. Dr.Tamilselvi M.D (S)
